About the program/cycle of studies

  • Psychology is a scientific discipline dedicated to the research, evaluation, and intervention in mental processes    (mental activity) and its behavioural manifestations (behaviour). Its contribution in terms of    research/assessment/intervention has been extended to wider spheres of human activity, such as health,    education, employment, sports, advertising, economics, ecology, politics, and many others.
  • The Bachelor's Degree in Psychology seeks to provide a basic introduction to the skills of psychologists in    different practical contexts, to the major theories and techniques in psychology, and to a base for research.
  • However, obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Psychology does not lead to an occupational qualification in Psychology, nor does it provide the necessary competences for independent practice. It merely lays the basic groundwork of knowledge in this field and sets the stage for continuing towards a Master's Degree, at any national or European educational institution of Psychology, with the goal of practising psychology as a profession.

Objectives

The specific goals of this degree are:

  • the development of expertise and comprehension skills in the scientific and methodological areas of psychology;
  • knowing how to apply the knowledge acquired and to integrate it into explanatory models, adopting an initial approach to differing assessment and intervention tools in the area of psychology;
  • the development of skills in collecting, selecting and interpreting information that provide a foundation for decisions, judgements and solutions, including the various levels of scientific, social and ethical integration;
  • the development of problem-solving skills, from problem recognition to the implementation of solutions;
  • the development of strategies for communicating information, ideas, problems and solutions to both specialist and non-specialist audiences;
  • the acquisition of skills for lifelong learning, including self-directed and autonomous learning;
  • a practical introduction to the different contexts of action/intervention in Psychology.

Entry Requirement

Completed secondary school
Document certifying that the candidate has a national exam of Biology in is education system with the minimum mark of approved in order to substitute our national access exam of Biologia e Geologia, and the respective contents, or take the exam in CESPU
