The master's degree in chemistry is based on the very broad range of subjects in chemistry in Marburg: In addition to inorganic, organic and physical chemistry, analytical chemistry, biological chemistry, bioinorganic chemistry, theoretical chemistry and biochemistry are represented in research and teaching in Marburg. The "design" of the M.Sc. course allows students to put together "their" course individually in all variants. The spectrum of possibilities ranges from a classic "diploma-related" study to a strong specialization that largely bypasses the core disciplines. Only 15 of 120 credit points in total have to be completed in inorganic, organic or physical chemistry, 63 credit points can be earned in elective subjects that can be freely selected according to certain rules.
Although the "classic" degree of chemistry graduates is still the doctorate, for which there are many possibilities in Marburg (e.g. in principle also in pharmacy, medical research, biology and physics), it is also quite possible with the master’s degree Graduate to pursue a position in industry or public service.
